A Tribute to Louise Hay

by Lorraine Smith on September 18, 2017

When I was in my early 20’s, Louise Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Life thankfully feel into my lap. This book had such a profound effect on me that it literally changed my life. Louise opened my mind to the totally of possibilities which led me to look at life from a whole new perspective. She made me see that the patterns and beliefs I developed about myself we not all necessarily true and that I had the ability to change those limiting beliefs simply by changing my thoughts about myself. She shared how constant negative thinking can actual manifest into dis-ease in the body and offered new thought patterns and affirmations to help shift those limiting beliefs.

I also found Louise’s mirror work to be extremely healing. It took me years to get comfortable telling myself “I love you, I really, really love you” when looking at myself in the mirror. Now when I walk past a mirror I give myself a wink – okay, well most of the time. I make sure I tell myself “I love and approve of you” while brushing my teeth every morning. I have to say that the little girl in me appreciates being told how much she is loved.

Louise taught us that it is never too late to start living your dreams. She started Hay House when she was 60 and went on to do many other things sharing her message of LOVE!

My original, very worn copy of You Can Heal Your Life resides on my night table or in my office as I refer to the List* chapter often. There are pages from numerous I Can Do It calendars taped all over my house or tucked into books. So many nights I drifted off to sleep repeating Louise’s affirmations over and over in my head.

Louise Hay was an incredible inspiration to me and so many others. I found it no coincidence that she passed two years to the day after her good friend, Wayne Dyer who was another one of my mentors.

In honor of Louise’s life, I am sharing some of my favorite affirmations.

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect whole and complete.

I am one with the power that created me.

Life loves me!

Love is the great miracle cure. Loving ourselves creates miracles in our lives.

Healing begins with love for myself and love for every part of my body.

I love and approve of myself.

I forgive myself for not being perfect I living the very best way I know how.

I deserve the best, and I accept the best, now. All my needs and desires are met before I even ask.

All I need to know at any given moment is revealed to me. My intuition is always on my side.

Remember you are the only person who thinks in your mind! You are the power and the authority in your world.

I claim my power and move beyond all limitations.

The point of power is always in the present moment.

Every thought you think is creating your future.

It’s only a thought, and a thought can be changed. I am not limited by any past thinking. I choose my thoughts with care. I constantly have new insights and new ways of looking at my world. I am willing to change and grow.

I cross all bridges with joy and ease. The “old” unfolds into wonderful new experiences. My life gets better all the time. I am safe, it’s only change.

Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of the situation only good can come.

You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.

All is well in my world.

Deep at the center of my being there is an infinite well of gratitude. I now allow this gratitude to fill my heart, my body, my mind, my consciousness, my very being. This gratitude radiates out from me in all directions, touching everything in my world, and returns to me as more to be grateful for. The more gratitude I feel, the more I am aware that the supply is endless.

Thank you, Louise for sharing your love with the world! Thank you for guiding and leading so many of us on the path of self-love! I will be forever grateful!

And so it is.
